Terms of Use
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of NovelAura ("the App"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
NovelAura is developed and maintained by an independent developer listed in Section 14 (Contact).
1. What NovelAura Is
NovelAura is a free mobile reader that helps you browse, read, and listen to web novels from publicly available third-party websites, and to read DRM-free EPUB files you add yourself. The App is a client-side tool: it fetches pages that any standard web browser could fetch, reformats them for a better reading experience, and adds quality-of-life features like text-to-speech, offline downloads, and a personal library.
NovelAura does not:
- Host, publish, sell, license, distribute, or monetize novel content.
- Operate or represent any of the third-party novel sources.
- Guarantee the availability, accuracy, or completeness of any novel.
- Charge any fee for access to content or for any App feature.
2. Free Content Disclaimer
All novel content accessed through NovelAura is retrieved from third-party public websites that make the content available free of charge. NovelAura itself:
- Does not own, claim ownership of, or hold any rights to the novels you read through it.
- Does not pay for, license, or redistribute novel content.
- Does not remove or circumvent any access controls, digital rights management (DRM), paywalls, or login walls.
- Does not crawl or index third-party sites. It fetches the pages you browse and read, plus a small amount of related fetching on your behalf: loading the next few chapters ahead of you, checking novels in your library for new chapters, fetching ratings and genre details for books shown on screen, and keeping a short-lived cache so pages don't have to be fetched twice.
Copyright of each novel belongs to its original author and/or the licensed publisher of that work. NovelAura makes no representation about licensing status on third-party sources.
If you are an author, publisher, or rights-holder and believe a third-party source is hosting your work without permission, your dispute is with that third-party source, not with NovelAura. However, you may still request that NovelAura stop resolving links to a specific source — see Section 11 (DMCA).
3. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the App only for lawful, personal, non-commercial reading. You will not:
- Use the App in a way that violates applicable law, including copyright, in your jurisdiction.
- Reverse-engineer the App to circumvent security measures of third-party sources.
- Use the App to intentionally overload, attack, or disrupt third-party sources (e.g. by scripting mass requests).
- Resell, relicense, or commercially redistribute the App or any modified version of the App without written permission.
- Use the App to harass, defame, or harm others through feedback submissions or content reports.
You are responsible for ensuring your use of the App complies with the laws of your country, state, or region.
4. Third-Party Sources
The App fetches content from independent websites. Those sites have their own terms of service and privacy policies, and we have no control over them. We do not endorse the content hosted by those sites, and we do not guarantee that content lawfully appears on those sites.
You access third-party content at your own risk. NovelAura is not responsible for:
- The legality, accuracy, or appropriateness of content on third-party sources.
- Any malware, tracking, or misleading content served by third-party sources.
- Downtime, rate-limiting, or changes made by third-party sources that cause the App to stop functioning for particular novels.
5. No Accounts, No Purchases
The App does not require a user account. It does not offer in-app purchases, subscriptions, or paid tiers, and it shows no advertising. The App is provided at no monetary cost. If that ever changes, these Terms and the Privacy Policy will be updated first, as described in Section 13.
6. Intellectual Property in the App
The App's source code, icon, name, user interface, and original written materials are owned by the developer and are licensed to you for personal use under these Terms. License information is available on request (Section 14).
Third-party libraries used by the App retain their original open-source licenses. A list of third-party components and their licenses is available on request.
Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of any novel content. Novels and their accompanying art, translations, and metadata remain the property of their respective creators and publishers.
7. User-Submitted Content
When you submit a feedback message, bug report, or content report through the App, you grant NovelAura a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use that message for the purposes of improving the App, fixing bugs, and responding to you. You represent that any content you submit is your own and does not infringe the rights of any third party.
Do not include personal information about others (names, contact info, photos) in feedback messages without their consent.
8. Disclaimers
The App is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without any warranty of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including without limitation warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or uninterrupted availability.
We do not warrant that:
- The App will be uninterrupted, secure, timely, or error-free.
- Third-party sources will remain accessible.
- Any particular novel will be available through the App at any given time.
- Text-to-speech output will be accurate in pronunciation or free from synthesis artifacts.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so portions of the above may not apply to you.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer of NovelAura shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost data, business interruption, or any damage to your device, arising from or related to your use of or inability to use the App — even if the developer has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
In no event shall the developer's total liability to you for all claims relating to the App exceed five (5) US dollars or the amount you paid for the App (which is zero), whichever is greater.
Some jurisdictions do not allow limitations on certain damages, so portions of the above may not apply to you.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the developer of NovelAura from any claim, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from (a) your violation of these Terms, (b) your misuse of the App, (c) content you submit through the App, or (d) your violation of any law or third-party right, including any copyright or contractual right of a novel rights-holder or a third-party source.
11. DMCA / Copyright Takedown
If you are a copyright owner or authorized agent and you believe that the App is directing users to content that infringes your copyright, you may send a takedown request by email. To be effective, the request must include:
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or the person authorized to act on their behalf.
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed.
- Identification of the specific third-party URL(s) the App is resolving to the allegedly infringing material, sufficient for us to locate it.
- Your contact information (name, mailing address, phone number, email).
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act on behalf of the owner.
Send DMCA notices to: halvenlabs@gmail.com with subject line "DMCA Takedown — NovelAura".
On receipt of a valid notice, we will promptly take appropriate action, which may include:
- Removing the offending source from the App's list of supported sites in the next release.
- Disabling resolution of specific URLs within the App.
Because NovelAura is a client-side fetcher and does not host content, the most effective remedy for copyright infringement is to contact the third-party site directly. We can only control which sources the App will resolve.
Submitting a knowingly false takedown notice may subject you to liability under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f).
12. Termination
You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. We may discontinue, suspend, or modify the App (in whole or in part) at any time without notice, and we may remove support for any third-party source at any time.
These Terms survive termination to the extent necessary to enforce Sections 2, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 14, and 15.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date and post the new version at the same public URL. For material changes, we will include a notice in the "What's New" changelog of the next App release. Your continued use of the App after the updated Terms take effect constitutes acceptance of the changes.

15. Governing Law and Venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. You and the developer agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in California for any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the App. This does not limit any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the laws of your country of residence.
16. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect.
17. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and the developer regarding the App, and supersede any prior agreements.
